Mouna Ragam is a new Tamil Television Serial on Star Vijay (Vijay TV). The new musical family drama will be launched on 24th April 2017 at 7:30 PM. The new tele-series will be telecasted every Monday to Friday at 7:00 PM

Mouna Ragam is the remake of Telugu serial 'Koyilamma (also referred as Koilamma)' on Maa TV. The story is about the girl Sakthi and her music Journey . The malayalam version of this serial is aired as Vanambadi on Malayalam entertainment Channel Asianet. The musical score of Mounaragam is done by music director M Jayachandran. He is also the music director Vanambadi serial.

Story/Theme: Mouna Ragam tells the story of the journey of a seven year old singing prodigy Sakthi. She lives with her mom under the care of her uncle and aunt. Little Sakthi has faced many questions on her father and she came to her father, an established singer Karthik Krishna, left her mother. She inherited the music talent from her father. She can sing any tune, learn any music and find rhythm from any noise. After the death of her mother, Sakthi decides to fulfill her mother's dream. Will she succeed?

Actor Munshi Venu passed away

Actor Munshi Venu (63) passed away at a at a palliative care centre at Chalakudy, Thrissur, following kidney failure on Thursday, April 13, 2017.  He was suffering from kidney-related ailment and were undergoing treatment. He hails from Thiruvananthapuram and was unmarried and was living alone in a lodge in Chalakudy for the past 10 years.

Actor Munshi Venu (Venu Narayanan) is known for his role in Asianet’s social satire television show ‘Munshi’ as a panchayath member. The show fetched his roels in television serials and movies. Following the success of Munshi, he debuted as malayalm move actor in director Kamal's movie Pachakuthiara starring Dileep  in lead role.

Venu has acted more than 60 movies in supporting or comic roles and is noted for acting in ‘Chota Mumbai’,'Salt 'n' Pepper', 'Kanyaka Talkies',' Immanuel','Daddy Cool', 'Thilakkam’, ‘Kadha Parayumbol’, ‘Utopiyayile Rajavu’,'Oru Muthassi Gadha' etc. Honey Bee 2 was his last movie

Best Director Award by Rajesh Mapuskar for Ventilator(Marathi) Actor Akshay Kumar won best actor award for for ‘the Hindi film ‘Rustom’ and Surabhi Lakshmi for the Malayalam film ‘Minnaminungu–the Firefly’ bagged best actress award.

Surabhi Lakshmi wins Best Actress Award at the 64th National Film Awards 2016

Surabhi Lakshmi winner of  Best Actress Award at the 64th National Film Awards 2016: Surabhi Lakshmi bagged the Best Actress award for her film ‘Minnaminungu’ at the 64th National Film Awards 2016. The awards were decided by a Jury with popular director Priyadarshan as the jury chairman.She was the winner of special award for best actress in 47th Kerala State Film Awards  for 2017 for the same movie.

Even though she lost the best actress award at the State Film Awards to Rajisha Vijayan, she made it at the National Level. She has won Film Critics Award for Second Best Actress in this year. Surabhi Lekshmi is the daughter of Andy and Radha from Calicut. She is married to Vipin Sudhakar (Photos).

Surabhi Lekshmi  hails from Kozhikodu is a trained dancer and theatre artist.  She is very popular as the character Pathumma, wife of Moosa,  in Media One serial M80 Moosa. Her unique sound and dialogue delivery in Caliccut accent were noted by the audience soon. She won best Comedy Actor award for  her role in M80 Moosa at the Flowers TV comedy Awards 2016. She has acted in more than 20 Malayalam Films, advertisements and Malyalam Serials. She portrayed a main character in   K.K. Rajeev's malayalam serial Kathayile Rajakumari.  Surabh is now part of  surya Tv Television show Laughing Villa season 1 & 2 and  Media One comedy show M80 Mooosa.


Minnaminungu-the firefly, is a movie directed by Anil Thomas and written by Manoj Ramsingh. The main cast include Krishnan Balakrishnan, Surabhi Lakshmi, Balu Narayanan, Prem Prakash, Suresh Prem,Rebecca Santhosh etc.

Jury Chairman Priyadarshan conveyed that Surabhi showcased brilliant performance which is why recognition came her way. According to the jury Surabhi won the best actress award for "Showcasing her brilliance in portraying pain and ecstasy of a mother in a deplorable social condition". She is the fifth actress to win National Award in Malayalam after Sarada, Monisha, Shobhana and Meera Jasmine. Meera Jasmine was the last Malayalam actress to win the best actress National Award in 2004 for her performance in Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam

Ganga -New Malayalam Serial on Surya TV from March 27th, 2017

Ganga is a new Malayalam Serial on Surya Television Channel. This is the malayalam dubbed version of Sun TV Tamil serial Ganga, the remake of Telugu serial 'Saptha Mathrika' airs on Gemini TV. Ganga will be launched on Surya TV on 27th March 2017 at 8:00 PM. The daily episodes will be telecasted every Monday to Friday at 8-8:30 PM.

Surya Movies- Malayalam Movie Channel : Kiran TV, 24h movie channel from Sun Network is re-branded as Surya Movies. The new channel was launched on 15th March 2017.

Surya Movies is a full time cinema channel now. In addition to this change, Surya TV HD was also launched on 15th March 2017. Sun Network is going for a full swing face change by adding new comedy channel also in to their network as Surya Comedy. Juhi debuted as a malayalam television actress through Uppum Mulakum- Malayalam sitcom by R Unnikrishnan-director of  popular TV shows Thatteem Mutteem and Marimayam . 

In this comedy serial Juhi plays the role of  Lekshmi, elder daughter of Balachandran and Neelima.  Biju Sopanam plays the role of  Balu (Balachandran) and Nisha Sarang as Neelima (Neelu).  The role of Lekshmi's sibling are portrayed by  Rishi S Kumar  (as Vishnu /Mudiyan) , Shivani Menon (as Shivani/Shiva) and Al Sabith (as Kesavan/Keshu).

Juhi's character in this serial 'Lechu' represents a teenage girl having lazy, jealous, naughty, bullying nature, but at the same time very loving and caring.  The natural acting and effortless portrayal of  Lechu by Juhi, won her many fans among malayali audience.  Even though she has got enough opportunity to showcase her acting potential, she is not interested take new projects now as recently revealed in an interview to continue her studies. Following the success of Uppum Mulakum which reached more than 300 episodes, she became part of many  shows including  Comedy Super Nite and Sreekandan Nair Talk Show on Flowers TV


Personal Life and Family 
Juhi Rustagi hails from Ernakulam in Kerala. She is a half Malayali. Her mother is from Chottanikkara.  She has a brother and is doing his engineering studies.  She has completed her schooling from Bhavans Munshi Vidyashram, Thiruvankulam, Ernakulam. Due to busy shooting schedule she opted for open school system to finish her higher secondary studies in commerce. Juhi likes to continue her studies and has not committed any other project now. Juhi got opportunity to act in Uppum Mulakum when director R.Unnikrishnan spotted her among his daughter's classmates.

Mangalam TV- 24hour news channel from Mangalam group with its head quarters in Kottayam is launched on March 6th, 2017. This is the entry of Mangalam Publications into visual media space. Actress Bhavana gets engaged to Kannada Film Producer Naveen | Photos

Actress Bhavana's wedding engagement with Kannada Producer Naveen on March 8, 2017. The engagement ceremony was a private event attended by their close family members and friends. The engagement ceremony was held  at Bhavana's home in Thrissure, Kerala

The photos were shared on social media. Her friends Actress Manju Warrier and Samjuktha Varma were among the attendees of the function. In this ceremony their horoscopes were exchanged. This is an informal ceremony. A formal one is scheduled to be August or September . The news of Bhavava's marriage were circulating for a while. It is reported that Bhavana met Film producer Naveen during the shot of Romeo (2012). They were in love relationship for more than five years.  Bhavana''s marriage with Naveen was scheduled in 2014 but was delayed due in unexpected death of her father and his mother.

The serial is produced by Prabha Unnithan, Asha Vivek Unnithan, Aneesh Unnithan.  Manjurukum Kalam narrates the journey of V.R Janaki (Janikutty), daughter of Govindankutty and Adopted daughter of  Vijayaraghavan and his wife Rathnamma. She lived the life of an orphan, but her strong will to succeed in life, favored her fate, eventually turning her into a successful women.

The title role of Janaki is done by many child actors. They are Kezia,Niranjana, Greeshma ,Vedhika ,Nikitha and Monisha.  Vineeth KP and Anish Rehman portrayed the role of  Abhijit, love of Janaki.   Manu Nair acted as Vijayarakhavan while Lavanya Nair/Manju Satheesh gave life to Rathnamma. Kishore played the role of Govindan kutty -father of Janikutty. The realistic portrayal of the story with a cast suitable for the characters made the serial a memorable one. The television version narrated the Joycee's novel in the best possible way. Manajurukum Kalam Serial ended with a happy climax. Janikutty get selection to civil service and her marriage to Abhijith is fixed. Rethnamma accepts her as her daughter. In the end scene every one from Krishnamangalam (Janikutty's mothers home), her step mother and family, her adopted parents Vijayan and Rethnamma, he uncle minister Madhosoodana Panikkar bless her wedding engagement with Abhijith, before her training as IAS officer. Thus, fate brings Janaki everyone in her life.  The serial , unlike other soap operas , focused on the success of virtue in the end.
