Neeli was originally a Kannada serial launched on Star Suvarna since November 14th, 2016. Becasue of the popularity of the serial is remade into Tamil. Neeli is directed C Jerrold,known for his popular serials like Madura, Kallikkaattu Pallikoodam, En Peyar Meenatchi and Rettai Vaal Kuruvi.
Original Story line (Kannada) : Neeli tells the story of a young girl Sanvi and her relationship to her doll Neeli. The spirit of Sanvi's dead mother is living with her through the doll. In the tamil version the name of the characters are changed. Sanvi loses her mother Deepa in an young age and is devastated when her father remarries. It then that Deepa protects Sanvi from troubles by living inside the doll in the form of a spirit. Rekha who is deeply in love with both Surya and his money. Rekha conspires with her siblings to kill Sanvi . The story is a battle between the spirit and Rekha. Neeli ultimately tells the love and bonding of a mother and daughter.
