50th Kerala State Film Awards 2019-Winners List | Vasanthi best film|Suraj Vejaramood & Kani Kusruthi best actors

Winners list of Kerala State Film Awards for 2019 films |Kerala State Film Awards announced in 2020 |50th Kerala State Film Awards 2019 : Winners of 50th Kerala State Film Awards 2019 was announced on October 13th, 2020 by  Minister of state for cinema AK Balan at a press conference in Trivandrum. The  awards were selected based on a list of 119 Malayalam films selected by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.  Kerala State Film Award is to honour great artists and movies of the state

Jury : The winners were selected by a jury headed by   noted cinematographer and director Madhu Ambat. Film makers Salim Ahmed and Abrid Shine, cinematographer Vipin Mohan, editor L Bhoominathan, sound engineer S Radhakrishnan, playback singer Lathika, actress Jomol, writer Benyamin and chalachitra academy member secretary C Ajoy were the jury members

Best Film: Vasanthi directed by Rehman brothers (Shinos Rehaman, Sajas Rehamn) won the award for the best film. The cast of Vasanthi includes Swasika,Siju Wilson. Lijo Jose Pallisery walked away with the award for Best Director for his film Jellikettu. Kenchira by Manoj Kana won best second film award. The critically aclaimed film Kumbalangi Nights won best popular film award. 

 Best actor and actress :Actor Suraj Vejaramood bagged the top honour for his roles in Vikrithi, Android Kunjappan. Kani Kusruthi (Biriyani) won the best actress award for her performance in Biriyani movie directed by  Saajin Babu.  Best Character Actor was bagged by  Fahadh Faasil for his performance in Kumbalangi Nights while Swasika won best best character actress ward for Vasanthi. Special Jury Mention for acting is shared by  Nivin Pauly (Moothon), Anna Ben (Helen) and Priyamvadha Krishna (Thottapan)

Najim Arshad -wins best singer award at the 50th Kerala State film awards


Najim Arshad is the  Winner  of  Kerala State Film Awards 2020 for  best singer (male)

Najim Arshad is the winner of the Best Singer (male) award at the 50th Kerala State Film Awards.  He won the award for the song 'Athmavile vanagalil' composed by  William Francis for the movie ‘Kettyloaanu Ente Malakha'.

When Najim heard the news and the congratulatory messages following the anouncement of the award by Cultural Minister A K Balan, his first reaction was   ‘I can’t believe it'. He mentioned in his social media page that 'Thanks to jury members ❤️, Thank you dear Williams for giving such a great song.
Thanks to almighty'. 

‘Kettyloaanu Ente Malakha,’ starring Asif Ali and Veena Nandakumar in the lead, is a drama film that was directed by debutant filmmaker Nissam Basheer. The film was written by Aji Peter Thankam and also had Manohari Joy, Jaffar Idukki, Basil Joseph and more as supporting actors. The film, which explores the story of a shy Malayali rustic villager named Sleevachan and his newlywed wife Rincy, ponders on the topic of marital rape and was critically acclaimed too. The film was released on November 22, 2019.

Najim Arshad  is now established as a playback singer with more than 100 songs and many awards to his credit. Najim's journey as a singer was noted following his success in Asianet's idea star singer.  He was the winner of the most popular reality show Idea Star Singer 2007 on Asianet. Mission 90 Days was his debut film as a playback singer. The song from Lal Jose movie 'Diamond Necklace' Thottu thottu composed by Vidya sager was a big break for him. He has many hit songs to his credit including songs from  recent movies. In the mean time he also made debut in bollywood through his hindi song 'Kaafiron Ki Namaaz'. He has been considered for the play singer award in many years. This year he got it.

Najim Arshad -Biography
Najim Arshad is the son of Tirumala Shahul (retired as administrative officer from Vigilance Department) and Rehma (music teacher). He has two elder brothers Ajim Shad & Sajim Shad.  He is the native of Valiyavila, Trivandrum district in Kerala. Najim Arshad has completed his a post-graduation in music with first rank, from Sree Swati Tirunal College of Music, Kerala University. Najim  is married to Thazni Thaha is a dentist by profession. Their wedding and  engagement  photos were posted earlier. They were blessed with a baby boy in 2019.

Winners list of Kerala State Film Awards for 2018 films |Kerala State Film Awards announced in 2019 |49th Kerala State Film Awards 2018 : Winners of 49th Kerala State Film Awards 2018 will be announced on February  278th, 2019 by  Minister of state for cinema AK Balan at a press conference in Trivandrum. The  awards were selected based on a list of 20 Malayalam films selected by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy to the finale. The 10 member jury will declared the awards in various categories from 104 movies submitted for the award. Kerala State Film Award is to honour great artists and movies of the state

Jury : The winners were selected by 10-member jury headed by  headed by screenwriter-director Kumar Shahani. The other members of the jury were Sherry Govindan, George Joseph, K G Jayan, Mohandas, Vijayakrishnan, Biju Sukumaran, Berny-Ignatius and Navya Nair among others.

Best Film & Best Director: Kanthan – The Lover of Colour, directed by Shareef Easa, bagged the top honour of the Best Film award, while filmmaker Shyamaprasad took home Best Director award for his film Oru Njayarazhch . Movies Sudani from Nigeria and Carbon won many awards

 Best actor and actress :Actor Jayasurya, won the Best Actor award for his riveting performance for both Njan Marykutty and Captain. He shared the award with Soubin Shahir, who featured in lead role in Sudani from Nigeria. Nimisha Sajayan won the Best Actress award for her performance in Chola and Oru Kuprasidha Payyan.

26th Kerala State Television Awards 2017- Winners List | Nilavum Nakshatrangalum best serial

The winners of the 26th Kerala State Television Awards 2017 were announced by Minister for Cultural Affairs A K Balan  at PR Chamber on 24th April 2018.  The award were decided by Kerala Chalachitra Academy by a Jury in feature and non-feature category. For the year 2017, Rakhunath Paleri, K Kunjikrishnan and A Chandrasekhar were the chairperson of the jury in on feature, non feature and article category, respectively.

Nilavum Nakshatrangalum aired on Amrita TV directed by G R Krishnan has bagged the Kerala State Television Award 2017 for the best tele-serial.  Madhupal won the award for best director for his serial  Kali Gandaki. Best actor were bagged by Krishnan Blalakrishnan for Kaali Gandaki . For  her role in the serial Neermathalam, actress Amala Gireeshan won the best actress award. Manjal Prasadam on Flowers TV won the second best serial award. Best second actress and actor for Gouri Krishnan and Vijay Menon, respectively for Nilavum Nakshatrangalum.

The  best music director for Kallara Gopan, best cameraman for Noushad Shereif, best scriptwriter for GR Indugopan, best art director for Ajith Krishna, best dubbing artiste (male) for S Radhakrishnan,  best dubbing artiste (female) for Parvathy S Pakash were the other winners. Winners list of Kerala State Film Awards for 2017 films |Kerala State Film Awards announced in 2018 |48th Kerala State Film Awards 2017 : Winners of 48th Kerala State Film Awards 2017 will be announced on March 8th, 2018 by  Minister of state for cinema AK Balan at a press conferencein Trivandrum. The  awards were selected based on a list of 68 Malayalam films selected by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. The 10 member jury will declared the awards in various categories from 110 movies submitted for the award. Kerala State Film Award is to honour great artists and movies of the state

Jury : The winners were selected by 10-member jury headed by  director T.V. Chandran. The other jury members are directors Dr. Biju, Manoj Kana, sound engineer Vivek Anand, Cameraman Santhosh Thundiyil, Music Director Jerry Amaldev, Script writter Cheriyan Kalpakavadi, writter M Rajeev Kumar and actress Jalaja. Mahesh Panchu,is the member secretary. He is currently the Film Academy secretary.

Best Film: Ottamuri Velicham directed by Raul Riji Nair won the award for the best film.The film stars Vinitha Koshy, Dipak Parambol and Devaki Rajendran. Lijo Jose Pallisery walked away with the award for Best Director for his film E Ma You.

 Best actor and actress :Actor Indrans bagged the top honour for his role of a distraught father searching for his missing son in the movie Aalorukkam. Parvathy, who played the lead role in the critically-acclaimed as well as commercially successful film Take Off, won the Best Actor (Female) award.

47th Kerala State Film Awards 2016-Winners List | 'Manhole' Best Film, Vinayakan Best Actor, Rajeesh Vijayan Best Actress

Winners list of Kerala State Film Awards for 2016 films |Kerala State Film Awards announced in 2017 |47th Kerala State Film Awards 2016 : Winners of 47th Kerala State Film Awards 2016 is declared on March 7, 2016. Minister of state for cinema AK Balan announced the awards at a press conferencein Trivandrum. The  awards were selected based on a list of 68 Malayalam films selected by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. The 10 member jury will declared the awards in various categories based on 68 movies they have been have been watching five movies per day from February 21.

Jury : The winners were selected by 10-member jury headed by Odisha director A.K. Bir. The other jury members are directors Sundar Das,Priyanandan, Sudevan, yesteryear actress Shanthi Krishna,  PF Mathews, VT Murali, Arun Nambiar, Dr Meena T Pillai and Mahesh Panchu

Best Movie & Best Director : Manhole, directed by Vidhu Vincent won the awards for best film and best director award. This is the first time in the history of Malayalam cinema that a women director won these awards. Manhole is the first Malayalam film by a female director screened in the competition section of International Film Festival. Director Vidhu Vincent bagged two awards for her debut movie Manhole at the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), 2016.

Best Actor and Best Actress: Vinayakan won Best Actor for his performance in Rajiv Ravi's Kammattipadam. The best actress Award was bagged by Rajeesh Vijayan for her performance in Anuraga Karikkin vellam. Manikandan Achari (Kammatipaadam) won award for his debut performance in Kammattipadam while Kanchana PK got second best actress Award. Surabhi Lekshmi got special mention for acting in Minnaminungu

Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Pinneyum, Dileesh Pothen’s Maheshinte Prathikaram, Dr Biju’s Kaadu Pookunna Neram, Vidhu Vincent’s Manhole, Sajin Babu's Ayal Sasi and Salim Kumar's Karutha Joothan are some of the movies in the final round. Pulimurugan, Kammattipadam and Maheshinte Prathikaram are the three contenders in the popular movie category. Mohanlal (Oppam , Pulimurugan), Vinayakan (Kammattipadam), Fahadh Fazil (Mahashinte parathikaram) are nominations for best actor award , Kavya Madhavan, Rima Kallingal, Surabhi are shortlisted for best actress award. 46th Kerala State Film Awards 2015 Winners List |Ozhivudivasathe Kali Best Film; Dulquar Salman & Parvathy best actors; Martin Prakkat Best Director

Winners of 46th Kerala State Film Awards 2016 is declared on March 1, 2016. The  awards were selected based on a list of 73 Malayalam films selected by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. Minister Thriruvanjoor Radhakrishnan,the state Minister for Forest, Transport, Sports, Environment, and Cinema, anounced the winners in the press meet, which will be held in Trivandrum. This award is for the films released in 2015.  Charlie and Ennu Ninte Moideen bagged most of the awards at the Kerala State Film Awards. The detailed list are given below.

Jury : The winners were selected by a jury headed by filmmaker Mohan. The other jury members were George Kithu, AL Vijay, Sulakshana, Sharath, B R Prasad, Venugopal, Premchand, Dr Soman, and CR Rajmohan.

Best Movie :
 Ozhivudivasathe Kali (An Off-Day Game), directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan won the best film award 2015.This movie is the adaptation of a short story by   Unni R . The story is about the present socio political mindset of Kerala in crisply narrated dramatic events. Even though the the plot is too local, the undercurrents break that limitation to become universal.  Sanalkumar Sasidharan is the winner of Best Director for Oraalppokkam at the 46th Kerala State film awards 2015

Manoj Kana’s Amoeba, based on the travails of Endosulphan victims in Kasargode district, won the award for the second best film.

Best Director : Martin Prakkat won the award for the Best Director for Charlie

Best Actor and Actress: Dulquer Salmaan won the Best Actor award for his performance in Charlie, while Parvathy won the Best Actress for her contrasting performances in Charlie and Ennu Ninte Moideen. Actor Jayasurya won the special Jury award for his performance in Su Sundi Valmeekam

Charlie and Ennu ninte moideen bagged most of the awards at 47th Kerala State Film Awards

Malayalam Movie Charlie won eight awards including best director, best actor and best actor in addition to other technical awards.

Ennu Ninte Moideen directed by R.S.Vimal won the award for the Best Popular Film.  Other awards shared by this movie are for best actress, best cinematography, best lyrics, best music director, best singer (see the list below) Ennu ninte Moideen was the winner of many awards at Asianet film awards 2016 and Vanitha film awards 2016 . But it was not repeated in Kerala State Awards.
