Winners of 63rd Nehru Trophy Boat Race 2015 (Kerala Vallamkali)

The 63rd Nehru Trophy boat race 2015(Vallamkali) was conducted on Saturday, 8 August 2015 (8-8-2015) at Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha.  Jawahar Thayankari of  Kumarakom Vembanad Boat Club helmed by Jameskutty Jacob are the winners of Nehru Trophy Boat Race 2015. Mahadevikkattil boat came in second place, Sree Ganesh finished third, followed by St Pius 10th

Nehru Trophy is the most prestigious snake boat race competition in Kerala. Snake boats are called as Chundan Vallam in Kerala. The Nehru Trophy boat race marks the launching of Onam festivities in Kerala.

The first Nehru Trophy Boat Race was held in 1952 to honour then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. In that boat race Nadubhagam Chundan stood first. Panditji was so fascinated and thrilled by the boat race. After returning to Delhi in December 1952, Nehru donated a Silver Trophy, which is a replica of a snake boat placed on a wooden abacus.The trophy bears the following inscription above his signature "To the winners of the boat race which is a unique feature of community life in Travancore Cochin. ". This trophy later came to be known as Nehru Trophy, and in fond memory of great Panditji, the people of Alappuzha, Venice of East,in Kerala celebrate the Nehru Trophy Boat Race every year.
In 2014,  Kainakary United Boat Club's Champakkulam Chundan won the 62nd Nehru Trophy Boat Race. In its history of boat race spanning from 1952 to 2015,  Karichal Chundan stand first with the highest number of victories (13 times), followed by Champakulam (10 times.

Jawahar Thayankari debuted in 1977 and won their first victory in the same year. They also won it 1978,1985 and 2010. They came second in the Nehru trophy boat race in 2013.

In addition to snake boat race, there are various categories for Nehru trophy boat race including Churulan Vallam, Iruttukuthy Vallam, Odi Vallam, Veppu Vallam (Vaipu Vallam), Vadakkanody Vallam , Kochu Vallam etc .

Raree Rareeram Raro Season 2 on Asianet Plus to Start on 15 August 2015

Asianet Plus channel is all set to launch the season 2 of their mother and kids show Raree Rareeram Raro. The show is for mothers of Babies/Kids in the age group of 3 months to 3 years.  Official inauguration of the show was done by actress Kaviyoor Ponnamma along with Singer Venugopal, judges of Raree Rareeram Raro and other dignitaries.

Earlier this year, Asianet has invited entries to participate in Raree Rareeram Raro show The audition details of Raree Rareeram Raro 2 were earlier posted here.

Now it is the time to watch the show on Asianet Plus. The first episode of the show will be launched on 15 August 2015, Saturday  at 800 PM on Asianet Plus . Actress Swasika Vijay  is shown as the anchor in the promos of the show. The show will be aired on every Saturday and Sundary at 8:00 PM. The season 2 will showcase 30 kids and their mothers.

The grand finale of Raree Rareeram Raro was held on December 7, 2014 and the the winners of Raree Rareeram Raro were announced. The perfect mother and kid award were won by Rohini and Rohan Dev.  The season 1 of the Raree Rareeram Raro show was launched on 19 July 2014 with Actress Varada as the host. Actress Praveena, Dr.Nitha and Dr Elsi Umman were the judges of the show. 

Asianet HD and Mazhavil Manorama HD - high definition Malayalam Channels launched

Malayalam Channels Asianet and Mazhavil Manorama launched new full HD channels.

Asianet lauched the first  Malayalam High definition  (HD) TV channel on 13th August 2015 at 6:00 PM. They offer high definition visual quality and Dolby 5.1 sound quality to enhance the viewing experience of their audiences. This full HD channel is now available with Tata Sky and will soon become available at other cable and DTH Service providers

Mazhavil Manorama launched their high definition channel on 14 August 2015. This channel launched on 31 October 2011 was already telecasting programs shot in HD cameras. They became very popular and reached top 2 position in BARC ratings in shorter time span.

In general, HD channels telecast the same programs of the main SD channels, but in high definition. Soon other malayalam channels like Surya will launch HD channels.

The first and most important requirement to watch HD channel is a television set that supports this format. Most of current LED TV has with feature. Actress Muktha to marry Rinku Tomy on 30 August 2015

Actress Muktha Elsa George (Bhanu)is going to marry Rinku Tomy. Rinku Tomy is the younger brother of singer Rimy Tomy. The engagement of Muktha with Rinku will be on August 23, 2015 and the marriage will be held on 30 August 2015 in Edappally St George church in Kochi Kerala.

The marriage news of Muktha came as a surprise. It is reported that Muktha, Rinku and their families were known to each other for a long time. Actress Muktha to marry Rinku Tomy on 30 August 2015.

Rinku is the son of late Tomy Joseph and Rani from Paala in Kottayam district. He is the younger brother of popular singer and anchor Rimi Tomy. Rinku is currently running an event management company(DNR events) in Kochi

Muktha is the younger daughter of George and Sally. Her sister Doshy George is married and settled. Mutha began her acting career in a very young age with Lal Jose movie Achanurangatha Veedu. Following which she has acted many Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam Movies. She has also become a household name among Tamil audience though her films Thaamirabharani, Azhagar Malai, Sattapadi Kutram etc. Her recent movies are  Tamil movies -Vaaimai, Sagunthalavin Kadhalan, Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga, Paambhu Sattai and Malayalam film Sukhamayirikkatte.
