Director Deepu Karunakaran married Archana Mohan


Malayalam movie Director Deepu Karunakaran married Archana Mohan on 16 January 2015. The traditional wedding ceremony took place at RDR Auditorium Edappazhinji,Thiruvananthapuram.

Deeepu is the son of late Karunakaran Nair and Usha K Nair. He is the brother of Yesteryear Actress Suchithra. Archana is the daughter of V K Mohan and late Shyamalakumari.

The marriage funciotn of Deepu and Archana Mohan were attended by mega star Mammootty, former actresses Karthika, Kavya MAdhavan Chippy Sona Nair,actors Maniyanpillai Raju, Manu Varma, Indrans, Krishnaprasad and many others from big screen and mini screen industry

Deepu is currently shooting the Mamootty Starrer movie ' Fireman'. He has also directed movies Crazy Goplan(2008), Winter (2009) and  Tejabhai and family (2011). Earlier he worked as an assiastant director to Priyadarshan.

William is an established keyboardist and musician . He has done many programmes for the famous music director including Ouseppachan and Gopi Sundar  in Malayalam. William Francis is the native of Thalore, Thrissur. He is the son of Francis and Mercy

Actress Manju Warrier is the Manorama News Maker 2014

Actress Manju Warrier is elected as the Manorama News Maker of the year 2014.  She was among the four finalists including  Actor/ M.P Innocent, Former ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan and Hockey Star.P.R Rajesh. Actor Nedumudi Venu declared the voting results on 11 January 2015. Manju Warrier, received the award and thanked every one who voted for her.

Manorama News Maker 2014 was organised by Manorama with Muthoot group as the sponsors. The title was to find the person who was in the news all the time and captured the attention of the people in Kerala. The winner was decided by popular votes received by the candidate in the list . The voting was held for one month with more than 5 lakh people participants through the different mediums, including SMS, GPRS and Online polls. There were ten candidates initially -Director Anjali Menon, Pilitician  M.A Baby, Actor/ M.P Innocent, Former ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan,  Hockey Star.P.R Rajesh, Rahul Pasupalan (Kiss of love), Manju Warrier, Politicians Pannyan Ravindran, Shasi Tharoor and V. M Sudheeran.  Among them only four received maximum votes and reached the final stage.

It should be noted that the Manorama News Maker is for finding the person in the news and not to find the person of the year. Manju Warrier, a well known actress and dancer, returned to film after  14 years of break. Right from the start of her return, every thing including her ad with Amithabh Bachan for Kalayan Jewellers, her dance programs, her movie How Old Are You, her role as brand ambassador for She Taxi, organic farming  and other socially relevant programs captured the attention of readers. Any news including her name received hits than other news makers in 2014 and became sensational, projecting her as a very popular figure in the mind of malayali audiences.

 In addition to the success of the movie How Old Are You, she won best actress award for her role as Nirupama in the movie in the 9th Asiavision Film Awards 2014 and 17th Asianet Film Awards 2015.

Winners of Asianet Film Awards 2015- 17th Asianet Film Awards

The 17th season of Asianet Film Awards sponsored by Ujala and powered by Nirapara was held on 11 th January 2015 . The function was held at Port Trust Stadium Willington Island Kochi. Dr. Lekshmi Nair is a Malayalam Television Anchor and Chef.  She has a multi-faceted personality and is also a business woman.   She has also penned down cookery books and has plans to start a school for cookery school. With her culinary and presentation skills she has earned 'celebrity chef' status in Kerala. Here we focus mainly on her artistic skills than her academic career as lawyer.

She also presented nadan to International dishes in a way that the audience can relates to. Lekshmi is involved in every aspect of the show right from deciding the recipe to actual demonstration. She  takes much care of her costumes and accessories, which is noted well by the audiences. Magic Oven has completed for than 500 Episodes in 14 years and is still going strong.

Following the success of Magic Oven, Lekshmi Nair launched  a travelogue 'Flavours of India' on Kairali Channel, which showcases the food, culture, and lifestyle of different states of India. She has already travelled to most of the states in India.

In 2013, she launched another travelogue and cookery show ' Flavours of  Malaysia' for exploring the food, culture and life of the multi-ethnic nation, Malaysia. The show is aired on Kairali TV. She always garnish her show with a dash of glamour and ensure that her presentation in an easy but classy one.

In the mean time she has also hosted cookery competition shows like  Pachakarani on Kairali TV. The cookery reality show took a break after the launch of Kitchen Magic on Kairli TV.  This show similar to Master Chef international cookery show. In this show aspiring chefs from different parts of South India display their culinary skills in innovative, creative, healthy and hygienic ways in the competition to became a culinary master and to earn the title. The show has completed three seasons - Kitchen Magic, Celebrity Kitchen Magic  and Kitchen Magic Season 3 .

Personal Life


Lekshmi Nair is the daughter of Dr.N Narayanan Nair and Mrs Ponnamma. She is married to Adv. Ajay Krishann Nair. They have two kids (Parvathy Nair & Vishnu Nair). Both of her kids studied law and following the tradition of the family. Parvathy Nair recently (22 August 2014) married Dr. Aswin from UK. Lekshmi and her family is settled in Thiruvananthapuram.

Academic career

Lekshmi Nair also excelled on the academic front. She has completed B.A Degree in History from Government Women’s College, Thiruvananthapuram (2nd rand holder of Kerala University) and M.A. in History from S.V. University, Thirupathi. She did her LLB, LLM (first rand holder) and Phd from the Kerala Law Academy, University of Kerala. The topic for Ph.D research was “Legal Dimensions of Secularism”. she also published many research articles in Academy Law review. She Joined the Academy as Guest lecturer in History in 1988 and became Guest Lecturer in law in 1990 and became a full time permanent lecturer in 1994 and became Professor in 2007. She is currently holding the position of Principal of Kerala Law Academy in Thiruvananthapuram. She is also a member of the Kerala State Film Censor Board since 2005.
