The 17th season of Asianet Film Awards sponsored by Ujala and powered by Nirapara was held on 11 th January 2015 . The function was held at Port Trust Stadium Willington Island Kochi. This much awaited event was visual treat to the viewers with stars adding glamour and glitz along with wonderful performance on stage by celebrities.

These awards are given every year for artistic and technical excellence on  malaylam movies. Awards are presented in nearly 32 categories every year at the Asianet film awards. This year Mohanlal, Mukesh and Kaviyoor Ponnamma received special awards

Dr. Lekshmi Nair-Malayalam TV Anchor, Chef |Biography

Dr. Lekshmi Nair is a Malayalam Television Anchor and Chef.  She has a multi-faceted personality and is also a business woman.   She has also penned down cookery books and has plans to start a school for cookery school. With her culinary and presentation skills she has earned 'celebrity chef' status in Kerala. Here we focus mainly on her artistic skills than her academic career as lawyer.

She was keen to advance her culinary skills in Thai cooking and went to Chennai for a crash course. Lekshmi took lessons from Piangjai, an expert.

She also presented nadan to International dishes in a way that the audience can relates to. Lekshmi is involved in every aspect of the show right from deciding the recipe to actual demonstration. She  takes much care of her costumes and accessories, which is noted well by the audiences. Magic Oven has completed for than 500 Episodes in 14 years and is still going strong.

Following the success of Magic Oven, Lekshmi Nair launched  a travelogue 'Flavours of India' on Kairali Channel, which showcases the food, culture, and lifestyle of different states of India. She has already travelled to most of the states in India.

In 2013, she launched another travelogue and cookery show ' Flavours of  Malaysia' for exploring the food, culture and life of the multi-ethnic nation, Malaysia. The show is aired on Kairali TV. She always garnish her show with a dash of glamour and ensure that her presentation in an easy but classy one.

The cookery reality show took a break after the launch of Kitchen Magic on Kairli TV.  This show similar to Master Chef international cookery show. In this show aspiring chefs from different parts of South India display their culinary skills in innovative, creative, healthy and hygienic ways in the competition to became a culinary master and to earn the title. The show has completed three seasons - Kitchen Magic, Celebrity Kitchen Magic  and Kitchen Magic Season 3 .

Personal Life


Lekshmi Nair is the daughter of Dr.N Narayanan Nair and Mrs Ponnamma. She is married to Adv. Ajay Krishann Nair. They have two kids (Parvathy Nair & Vishnu Nair). Both of her kids studied law and following the tradition of the family. Parvathy Nair recently (22 August 2014) married Dr. Aswin from UK. Lekshmi and her family is settled in Thiruvananthapuram.

Academic career

Lekshmi Nair also excelled on the academic front. She has completed B.A Degree in History from Government Women’s College, Thiruvananthapuram (2nd rand holder of Kerala University) and M.A. in History from S.V. University, Thirupathi. She did her LLB, LLM (first rand holder) and Phd from the Kerala Law Academy, University of Kerala. The topic for Ph.D research was “Legal Dimensions of Secularism”. she also published many research articles in Academy Law review. She Joined the Academy as Guest lecturer in History in 1988 and became Guest Lecturer in law in 1990 and became a full time permanent lecturer in 1994 and became Professor in 2007. She is currently holding the position of Principal of Kerala Law Academy in Thiruvananthapuram. She is also a member of the Kerala State Film Censor Board since 2005.

Kathayallithu Jeevitham on Amrita TV Crosses 1000 Episodes

Kathayallithu Jeevitham, Amrita TV's family courtroom show has crossed 1000 episodes. The popular show anchored by yesteryear star Vidhubala Ambat, is aired every Monday to Thursday at 9.30 pm.

Amrita TV has celebrated this achievement by conducting a special event to celebrate the 1000th episode of the show on December 15, 2014 at Mascot hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.

The cases of Kathayallithu Jeevitham takes place in an informal courtroom setting in which the plaintiff, the defendant and their family members are present along with the moderator who keeps the proceedings in order, the entire scene presided over by a panel of members from KELSA (Kerala Legal Services Authority). Both the litigants are given a fair hearing and the grey areas of their accounts are cleared up in the show. Finally a settlement acceptable to all is arrived at and the verdict is legitimised with the seal of KELSA, with the entire procedure being completed within a couple of days.

Winners of Music India Grand Finale on Asianet

The grand finale of Music India, the reality show to find the best music band in Kerala was held on 28 December 2014. Band Azazeel and Band Bakery Junction were declared the winners of the show and they share the cash prize and trophy for the winners.  The grand finale witnessed spectacular performance by four finalists.  The show was launched on 25 September 2014 with 12 band selected after a tough audition  rounds. The details of the  bands were provided in our site earlier.  The show has completed 26 episodes  before the grand finale.

Actor Anoop Menon married Shema Alexander-Wedding Photos

Malayalam Actor , script writter and lyricist Anoop Menon married his long term friends Shema Alexander on 27 December 2014. The simple wedding ceremony was held at Anoop Menon's Flat in presence of his close relatives and friends.

Anoop is the son of o P. Gangadharan Nair and Indira of Balussery Parambathu Veedu in Kozhikode. Shema is the daughter of Prince Alexander and late Lilly Alexander of Prince Park in Thottumukkathu, Pathanapuram in Kollam District. Shema dont have any film background.

Anoop Menon conveyed the marriage news on his facebook page as follows

"Getting married to my longtime friend Shema Alexander today morning 7.30 am at my home...you all have been the pillars of support all through my life...humbly seeking your blessings and prayers...love you all..."

Azhar Sufikar,from Kallambalam in Thiruvananthapuram, is the title winner of Kutty Patturumal Season 2 on Kairali TV. He won the First prize among the 6 finalist of the competition.

The grand finale of Kutty Patturumal 2 on Kairali TV was held on 21st  December  2014 at Malappuram Kottakkal MSP ground , Kerala. In addition to the young contestants and judges celebrities from movie and music world attended the finale, including Najim Arshad, Sarayu and music director Gopi Sundar. Kishore Satya is  an Indian actor mostly working in the malayalam entertainment industry. He has worked as  RJ, assistant director,  malayalam television serial and film actor. He is a known face in both television and cinema industry for more than 18 years. Kishore Satya started his career as assistant director before taking up his roles as actor and anchor. Kishore Satya as Malayalam Television Actor

Kishore debuted as a Malayalam Television actor though Asianet serial Manthrakodi directed by A.M.Nazeer telecasted during October 2005-2006. The portrayal of the character Aravind C Menon in that serial made Kishore very popular among malayali audiences. It was followed by Kairali TV serial Kanalpoovu (February 2007 -July 2007) directed by Melilaa Rajasekhar. He later acted in Amriatv serial The Officer (2008 )directed by G.S.Vijayan  and Mazhavil Manorama serial Kadhayile Rajakumari (2011) written and directed by K.K.Rajeev. Now he is playing the role of Dr Balachandran in Asianet Serial Karuthamuthu (2014) by Praveen Kadakkavur.  This new serial has already got top ratings and is a hit among family audiences.

In addition to this he has also acted in telefilms and short serials including Annayude Lillipookkal, Neermathalathinte Pookkal and Kazhcha.

Personal life 

Kishore  is originally from Mallappally, Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. He is the son of Sathyavan Panikkar and late K.M  Omanamma. He has a brother, Abhilash.  Kishore is a graduate in commerce (Bcom). He married actress Charmila 1995 &is divorced on 1999. He later married Pooja from Kottarakkara in December 2007. They have a son, Niranjan. Kishore and his family is currently settled in Thriruvananthapuram.

The grand Finale of Raree Rareeram Raro was aired on December 7, 2014 at 8 PM.  This mother and kid show  unique show on Asianet Plus Television Channel  and first of its kind in malayalam television. It is first reality show on Asianet plus and the show was launched on 19 July 2014.  30 Mothers and their Babies/Kids in the age group of 3 months to 3 years participated in this show.

The grand finale of Raree Rareeram show was attended by actress Swetha Menon and singer G.Venugopal, Actress Archana Kavi.Along with them the judges of the show TDr Elsi Umman. Major Kishore, an upcoming actor in malayalam and Tamil industry, is also from Thiruvananthapuram . He’s is a Major from the Indian Army in real life, who took voluntary retirement to pursue his dreams in film world.

Indu Thampi made her debut in malyalam television through K.K Rajeev serial "Oru Penninte Katha" telecasted on Mazhavil Manorama  and later as  Avalude Kadha in Surya TV . The character Pooja in that serial made her very popular among audiences. Even though her debut movie was Anabella, the first released movie was Fathers Day by Kalavoor Ravikumar. She also acted in Oru Cinema Kadha Pole starring Indrajith. Actress Indu Thampi, hails from Thiruvananthapuram, is the daughter of Suresh Thampi and Jayasree. She has an elder sister Reshmi Thampi. Indu Thapi completed post graduation in English from All saints College.

Malayalam Television Anchor Annapoorna Lekha Pillai married Music Director Kailas Menon on 9 December 2014 at TDM Hall, Cochin, Ernakulam Kerala. They got married in a colorful traditional ceremony in the presence of parents, relatives and friends.
