It is reported that both Asin and Rahul were dating for the last few years. She met Rahul though his Khiladi 786 co-actor Akshay Kumar. Akshay and his wife Twinkle were the first brand ambassadors of Micromax and happens to be one of Rahul Sharma’s best friends. Even though people around her were aware of their relationship, the actress has been tight lipped for few years.
In a recent interview Asin confirmed the marriage news and said,
Even though marriage was decided earlier, Asin was waiting to complete all of her movie assignments. She stopped signing for new films for the last two years and is likely to quit the movie field to fully concentrate on her family life.
Asin's father Joseph Thottunkal said to the news channel that marriage of Asin with Rahul Sharama will be held on January 23, 2015.
Actress Asin is from Cochin in Kerala. Her father Joseph Thottumkal managed several businesses. Her mother Seline Thottumkal was a doctor.She debuted in a Malayalam film Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001, at the age of 15. It was followed by M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi (Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi ) in both Tamil and Teligu languages. The film which provided the breakthrough for Asin was Ghajini with actor Surya. This movie was remade into Hindi movie with same name with Amir Khan in the lead role. Following its success she acted in many Hindi movie. So far, she has acted in 25 movies, most of them were box office hits making her one of the most successful actress in India. Her last movie All is well with Abhishek Bachan is going to be released soon.

The marriage of Asin with Rahul Sharma came as a surprise to everyone.In an interview given to a top news paper she opened up for the first time on her relationship. Asin says 'Rahul and I have been together for almost four years. I will get married by the end of the year'.
On a question on how she met Rahul, she said that her story is eerily similar to the story of my film Ghajini. 'Rahul and I first met at the private airport of Mumbai as I was going to another country for work with Akshay Kumar for the promotions of Housefull 2. He was very simple and down-to-earth and that quality stuck with me.' It was his co-star Akshay kumar who was instrumental in paving a way to both of them. He introduced her to Rahul and told her that 'I think you two will be good for each other'. Asin thought is as a joke as 'Akshay is family for us and somehow, has a good sense of people so he sensed that similarity between Rahul and me'.
Asin is quoted as saying that 'after our first meeting and having spoken over phone a few times Rahul came and met my parents and expressed his intention to them'. Asin found that extremely gentlemanly and with her parents permission they started to get to know each other'.
She is now very much in love and is impressed with Rahul. She is praising him throughout the interview as 'he is very selfless and outstandingly secure and I feel that's pure love, the rest is selfishness. He has no 'I' in him, it's all about 'You' with him. Throughout the relationship, his sole concern is my happiness.'He has clarity of thought, vision and an opinion. His decisions are thought of but he arrives at them quickly. Also, he is very family oriented with strong roots'.
