Poornima born as Poornima Mohan to Mohan (lawyer) and Shanthi (runs a school). Her sister Priya Mohan is also an actress in Movies and Television. She is married to Malayalam actor Indrajith and have two daughters, Prarthana and Nakshatra.
Poornima started her career as a model and later started acting in many malayalam television serials including Kolangal(SunTV), Oomakkuyil(DD Malayalam), Peythozhiyathe (Surya TV) to mention a few. This gave her opportunities in films. Meghamalhar, Valliettan and Randam Bhavam are her noted movies among 13 movies she acted.
Later she switched her career as anchor of reality shows and established as a fashion designer. PRANAAH is the name of her boutique. In addition to this, she writes fashion columns for Mathrubhumi's magazines, Style and Chithrabhoomi.
