Mayamohini is not a usual story that malayali audience watched before. The themes is not a saga of tears. According to the channel Mayamohini tells a story never told before on Malayalam Television. Here the hero and heroine are the same person. Mayamohini is the story of bold and beautiful Urmilla who was forced to change her identity as a man (Unnikrishnan) to escape from police and to save sister from Yamini Bhai. Viswanathan, father of Urmila and Anu, is a wealthy businessman and a loving father who brought up his children single handedly after the death of his wife. One day, he goes missing and a lady named Yamini Bai enters Viswanathan's house and claims to be his wife and mother of Anu. Urmila escaped from her clutches when she tries to kill her. She disguised herself as Unnikrishnan and is determined to find her missing father and save her younger sister .The theme of Mayamohini take the viewers through how the journey of Urmila and how she conquers Yamini Bhai and how she saves her sister who is in Yamini Bhai’s trap.
