Kayamkulam Kochunniyude Makan is a new Malayalam Serial on leading entertainment channel Surya TV. The new serial will be launched on December 12, 2016 at 9:30PM. The serial is telecasted every Monday to Friday at 9:30 PM. This new epic drama is a sequel to the hit serial aired on Surya TV years back named Kayam Kulam Kochunni. The role of Kayamkulam Kochunni was essayed by actor Prakash B and the childhood version was portrayed by actor Manikuttan.
Kayam Kualm Kochunni was a robber who have stolen from the rich and given to the poor.The folklore of Kochunni, saviour of poor, is known through Kottarathil Sankunn's famous book Aithihyamala. The story of his fight against poverty was the theme of films before . Kayamkulam Kochunni(1966) directed by P. A. Thomas with Sathyan as Kayam Kulam Kochunni.
There is also a film titled Kaayamkulam Kochunniyude Makan (1976)directed by Sasikumar with Prem Nazir in lead role
